Study on time-dependent service areas of land earth stations employed in medium earth orbiting satellite systems

Abstract(in English) In personal communications systems using medium earth orbiting(MEO)satellites,it is desirable to assign only one land earth station(LES)to a handheld terminal throughout a call. Satellite diversity is also desirable to compensate for shadowing or blocking of paths between terminals and satellites.This report proposes a LES assignment method satisfying all these requirements, in which time-dependent service areas of LES′s are effectivelv ado pted.The method is evaluated for an example MEO satellite system.
