Polarization Moduration/Optical Coherent Detection System for Optical Communication Link Between LEO-GEO Satellite

Abstract(in English) Doppler frequency shift on inter-satellite communication link is very serious since satellites move around earth at very high speed. In this paper,we have theoretically investigated the.effect of the dappler frequency shift on polarization modulation(PLM)system.PLM system can cancel dappler frequency shift whithout an automatic frequency control(AFC)loop.Moreover,the bit error rates of PLM, optical heterodyne detection system and DPSK system on a link between a low erath orbit(LEO)and a geostationary orbit(GEO)are compared.In results,it is clear that PLM system has superior error rate performance over the DPSK system under the condition that the linewidth of laser is large.
