Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is pointed out that a necessary prerequisite for the successful growth of ultrafast optoelectronics is the development of key optical devices with high reliability and high performance. Especially it is very important to raise the controllability of high speed semiconductor laser. We report here the recent achievements by the authors' group on the pulse compression of gain switched semiconductor lasers via soliton effect and the subharmonic synchronization of monolithic mode locked semiconductor lasers. It is hoped that these will contribute to the successful growth of the optical -millimeter wave hybrid systems.
