Rat-Race Hybrids Using a Stub

Abstract(in English) A method of size reduction using a stub is discussed in the design of micro-wave rat-race hybrids. The 3/4 wavelength transmission line is replaced with a shortened transmission line with a stub, which can be folded inside the rat-race. The resultant rat-race is about a wavelength of center frequency in circumference. Frequency and phase characteristics of three rat-races are shown as a function of the length of stub. The experimental results are in good agreement with theory.
