| 抄録(和) | マルチメディア時代へ向け世界的情報通信基盤(GII)の整備計画が進められている。情報通信基盤では超高速伝送を可能とする光ファーバー通信ネットワークが大きな役割を演ずる。これらの世界的情報通信基盤における衛星通信の役割はなんであろうか。この観点から、超高速衛星通信の研究開発の社会的背景、意義及び我が国と世界における研究開発動向、研究課題等について紹介する。 |
| 抄録(英) | Many programs of information infrastructure have been deployed in the world toward a multimedia era in the forthcoming century. In the information infrastructure, optical fiber networks play very important roles because of high performance of high speed data transmissions. What is the role of satellite communications in global information infrastructure? From this stand point of view, this paper describes a background, objectives and activities of research and developments of Giga-bit satellites in Japan and in the world. |
