Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To radiate high power multiple beams, the approach of an active phased array with spatial power combining is a viable solution. An entire beam forming network for phased array must be equipped with the proportional number (number of beams times number of radiators) of phase and amplitude controlled function. The concept of Microwave Signal Processing, MSP, is presented for direct and collective signal processing at microwave frequencies. Unit circuit cells and functional circuits for BFN, such as power divider, quadrature hybrid, 360-degree variable phase shifter, variable attenuator and phase-inversible variable attenuator are newly proposed and designed. The fabricated MMIC successfully functions very well with 360-degree phase and variable amplitude. It can excite 64- or 32-element active phased arrays.
