Analysis of Radar Data for Evaluating the Navigation Accuracy of the Arrival Aircraft Based on FMS

Abstract(in English) Recently, an evaluation trial for the navigation and departure/arrival procedures using the RNAV(Area Navigation)function of FMS(Flight Management System), which is an onboard system of aircraft, has been carried out in Japan.In this paper, the data on lateral navigation accuracy for the aircraft which flew on the arrival route established for the trial are analyzed on the basis of ASR(Airport Surveillance Radar)data.The reslts showed that all aircraft flew on the pre-determined route segment of the departure route with lateral deviation value of less than 0.42 NM.
