Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wireless ATM for high speed multi-media services is drawing a significant deal of attentions. In order to meet the QoS (Quality of Service) requirements of ATM equivalent to the requirements for optical fiber networks, ARQ (Automatic Repeat reQuest) is indispensable for error control in Wireless ATM. This paper first discuss the application of conventional ARQ, SR (Selective Repeat) scheme and GBN (GBN) scheme to wireless ATM. To solve the problems of conventional ARQ for wireless ATM application, we propose PRIME ARQ (Partial selective Repeat superIMposEd on gbn ARQ). The proposed scheme can achieve high throughput performance using simple control algorithm suitable for high speed operation. Throughput and CLR (Cell Loss Rate) performance of PRIME ARQ are evaluated by analysis and experiment using proto-type PRIME ARQ processor.
