Abstract(in English) In this paper, the image data transmission techniques for the Hokkaido Integrated Telecommunication network via communication satellite are discussed. When the transmission error occurred within the compressed image data by a conventional image coding method, the decompressed image was degraded on wide range. The new image data compression format based on JPEG algorithm and an unique ARQ technique are proposed and image data transmission experiments are successfully carried out via JCSAT satellite transponder.
