Abstract(in English) The area of highlands and islands covers one fifth of the country of UK, and 500 miles distance from the south to the north(Shetland), where 13 Further Education colleges are scattered and no university. Under the Govermment's "Knowledge Economy" policy, 13 colleges formed a consortium, The University of the Highlands and Islands(UHI), and each collegetakes a role of depertment. UHI's strategy of "Learning with Technology"has enabled the remote students to get university degrees, who should not move to learn, but who learn via online and video conferencing. This is a report of a research on teaching and learning activitries and the issues
