Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigated, through a cognitive psychological experiment, interactive processes between mental operations by which subjects considered their ideas and external operations by which they actually produced objects in creative activity. In our experiment, subjects were required to build a creative robot with the LEGO Mindstorms. The experimental results showed that (1) the subjects modified their mental plans when they failed in embodying the plans in the external world, (2) on the other hand, they performed the additions, modification, and change of their ideas when they succeeded. Additionally, some individual cases indicated that the results of external operation introduced unexpected discovery. We also confirmed the importance of subjects' analysis on the results of the external operation.
