Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) One of the properties of authoring tools which need further improvement is its role in the AIEd research. It should not be just a tool for making a teaching material. Ideally, an authoring tool should reflect a compilation of all the research results available and hence it should know what it is going to produce based on what fundamental theories and findings. This paper aims at providing justifications for such a claim. The key idea is ontological engineering which enables us to deal with"Content"of knowledge so that an authoring tool KNOWs what it is doing. An ontology plays a role of meta-model which helps us build the proper model of the target object / world. An introductory explanation of ontological engineering and the current activities of our group are presented.
