Abstract(in English) The Global Classroom Project is the first project which tries the Internet with multimedia to the field of education in Japan. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate educational benefits of multimedia tools on the Internet. This project was carried out in July 1994 at Saga Prefecture in Japan.We connected two junior high schools to the Internet.In this project,we demonstrated "interactive lessons" and "school conversation" on the Internet with multimedia conference tools.We also had access to multimedia database resources on the Internet. The success of our project demonstrates the Internet with multimedia could be a powerful tool for education.
