Abstract(in English) | Recently,the number of adventitious blind has increased because of traffic accidents and diseases,namely diabetic retinopathy.It is difficult for the old aged adventitious blind to learn Braille. However,they still want to read the printed type and to write letters.We have studied the method of transmitting pictorial information through auditory sensation as a sensory aid for the visually handicapped.This method utilizes the control of sound lateralization and simple patterns can be expressed on the virtual auditory screen perceived with headphones.In this paper,we propose a sound support system which helps the adventitious blind to handwrite characters and to draw figures by using feedback of sound imaging signals.At first,we design the virtual auditory screen which is based on accuracy of sound image location correspond with the pen position on the tablet.We also examine the possibility of handwriting and drawing by using this system. |
