Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Because various situations occur in the process of programming, this study tried to collect the data by a protocol method while subjects make programs, as well as the input data of the subjects given through the keyboard of a personal computer. The purpose of the study is to clarify how students recognize various situations and process information in programming, based on the data collected as stated above. The subjects were two second-grade junior high school students, called A and O.The results revealed that the student A first wrote statements, then submitted the program repeatedly, which enabled A to logically recognize the situations and correct the program for completion. On the other hand, the results showed that the student O submitted and corrected the program without recognizing the situations. However, though the student O inappropriately recognized the situations, he wrote the program and finally completed it.
