Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the architecture and algebraic expessions' recognition on an intelligent Algebraic Calculation Tutoring System(ACTS)with handwriting input facility. Our system recognizes handwritten symbols and gestures by on-line character recognition method. Distinctive features of our systems are that it recognizes mathematical structures of inputted expressions and utilizes them to identify students' operations. The system recognizes positional relationships of inputted symbols and parses them based on DCG(Definite Clause Grammar). The mathematical strucutere differences of the inputs are utilized to identify atudents' mathematical operations applied between the expressions.
