Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We analayze the relationship between the difficulty of practice problems and the degree to which they diverge from the corresponding examples in a computer language textbook. The knowledge structures in the examples and the problems are described on a tree of expressions which may be selected based on the language specification. The degree to which a practice problem diverges is classified in terms of the number of movements on the tree(i.e., the number of selections needed to reach the correctanswer)from the expression of the example to that of the problem. The difficulty of the problem is estimated from the number of classified divergences. An experiment using a C language textbook shows the validity of this estimation method. Moreover, the experimental results show that the greater divergence the higher error rate.
