A development of computer aided language learning system for Japanese Modality

Abstract(in English) A computer aided language learning(CALL)system which,making use of the multimedia technology,teaches modality of the Japanese language to Koreans who wish to develop competence in communicating in Japanese was developed.Here,″modality″ means a p roposition which asserts or denies the possibility,impossibility, contingency,or necessity of its content.A Japanese CALL system with the following features was developed in the recent study. 1)Syllabus content is Japanese modality expression.2)The system is based on the functional-notional approach.3)The system can simultaneously present sound,visual image and conversational text. 4)HyperCard software is used.5)A roll play subsystem is included.
