Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The cost efficiency of the University of the Air of Japan(UAJ) was analyzed in consideration of direct expenditure(consumptive cost and capital cost)and indirect expenditure(opportunity cost and learning cost). The result shows that UAJ is more economical than conventional campus-based universities under present conditions because of the low opportunity cost. The simulations on its nationwide expansion demonstrate the possibility that UAJ will be more economical than it is at present, employing a satellite broadcasting system.Furthermore, the analysis by the bearer of the cost indicates that UAJ is the most economical for the household.
