Evaluation of Menta1 Retarded Persons' Cognizability of Facia1 Expression (II) : Using Computer

Abstract(in English) To evaluate of mental retarded persons' cognizability of facial expression, we built a computer test system. Eighteen Subjects, their chronological age ranged 15 to 17,were tested by this system. The following results were obtained:(1) severe mental retarded persons whose IQ is about 25 could achieve the test with appropriate advice. (2) cognizability of facial expression showed the tendency to be associated with IQ. (3) more than 80 percents of subjects recognized negative facial expressions as positive ones.
