Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) According to Hulliday and Hassan, learning a language is identified with acquiring the ability of mapping between the expressions and their functions under the variety of situational constraints. As the basis of an interactive environment for assisting the students to learn Japanese as second language, we propose in this paper to make use of a dialogue database with situational-functional indices associated with the key expressions comprised in each of the sample dialogues. Each sample dialogue in the database provides the student with filling-in-the-blancs exercises, and a stack parser diagnoses the student's answer. Let the answer be either incorrect or correct, the student is invited to set out on comparative studies of the same/different expressions with the same/different functions under the same/different situations by retrieving the sample dialogues either by situational-functional indices or surface expressions, thus being expected to attain the objective of the language learning.
