An Evaluation of Satellite-Based Distance Lectures with Different Video Transmission Formats

Abstract(in English) Three kinds of satellite-based distance lectures with different video transmission formats were evaluated subjectively by the audience. The video transmission formats are "analoglue transmission format", "1.5Mbps digital transmission format" and "MPEG2 based transmission (6.3 Mbps) format".The overall evaluation of three lectures were all good. Factor analysis was conducted to extract 3 factors (presence, image quality and audio) from 14 quesitonnaire items. The bigger transmission capacity is, the higher score of image quality becomes. It is found that if the score of image quality is higher, the score of general evaluation will tends to be higher.
