An Experimental Study of a λ/4 Wave Absorber Using FSS with a Thin Structure at X-band

Abstract(in English) For the indoor use, the utilization of a λ/4 wave absorber with a resistive film is expected, because the configuration is simple and is easy to design. However, it cannot be done more thinly than λ/4 long as the length of the spacer. In this point of view, we already confirmed that the thickness of the spacer was thinned by the variation of the phase in the spacer under the condition that an FSS(Frequency Selective Surface) is inserted into the spacer. In this study, we design and fabricate the absorber using FSS and measure its absorption characteristics. As a result, we confirmed the realization of the presented λ/4 wave absorber with the spacer of half thickness of the conventional version. We also provided the fundamental data of the frequency and oblique characteristics of the presented absorber.
