Leakage field of coaixal-slot antenna for interstitial microwave hyperthermia

Abstract(in English) Hyperthermal treatment is an effective method to remedy a cancer. In this hyperthermal treatment,microwave interstitial hyperthermia is one of the treatment for heating only a cancer tissue without damage to a normal tlssue.However,an interstitial treatment generally is performed in a operating room of hospital and there is the probability that the leakage field from the antennas make some interference to surrounding medical machines. The authors have been studying a coaxial-slot antenna for a microwave interstitial hyperthermia and have obtained an antenna which Is good characteristics for heating a cancer tissue.Then, using a water phantom,we measured the leakage field of the antenna, at 430MHz and 915MHz,respectively.And from the result,the leakage fleld on practical use in a clinic was estimated.The estimation showed that it would be over 10V, m at 915MHz wherever a distance of 1m away from the antennas.
