Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A push-pull optical intensity modulator using two inverted slot lines fabricated on an X-cut LiNbO_3 has been proposed and demonstrated at 60 GHz. The inverted slot lines fed by a coplanar waveguide with 180° out of phase are utilized as the electrode structure. The slot distance is enlarged to provide velocity matching between the optical carrier and the millimeter-wave signal. We have verified the push-pull operation of the optical intensity modulator by using the inverted slot lines. An optical carrier with a wavelength of 1.31μm is modulated by a 60-GHz signal with an applied power of 8dBm. The power ratios of the obtained first-order sideband to the maximum and suppressed optical carriers are -32 dB and -10 dB, respectively.
