Abstract(in English) Recently, several kinds of wireless communication systems such as wireless LANs and cordless phone are used in building. When a large-scale system is used in one room of an office, electromagnetic interferences may occur between the systems of the same type. Therefore, the electromagnetic environment needs to be controlled using building materials so that the frequency resource can be used effectively in wireless communication systems. However, the propagation characteristics and performances of wireless communication systems in the microwave band for indoor environments have not yet been clarified. These investigations are important for EMC engineers and architects to enable them to design indoor environments in buildings or offices where wireless systems can perform well. This paper describes the propagation characteristics in the microwave band for several indoor environments. In this study, we used an evaluation booth in which we could change the material of the ceiling, walls, and floor, and we investigated the propagation characteristics experimentally and analytically.
