Dosimetric Evaluation of Realistic Head Models Simulating Adult and Infant for Portable Telephones

Abstract(in English) The recent concern regarding potential health hazards due to absorption of electromagnetic energy emitted by portable telephones has been growing even among young children, because they also often use portable telephones to enjoy a chat. From this perspective, this paper numerically evaluated the dosimetries in five kinds of our developed realistic human head models simulating an adult through an infant for portable telephones. The FD-TD(finite-difference time-domain) method was used to compute both the SAR and temperature-rise. As a result, we found that the peak SAR averaged over any one-gram of tissue, being specified in ANCI/IEEE C95.1-1992, in creases with reducing the size of the head model for 900MHz exposure, while it has no definite tendencies for 1.5GHz exposure, and also that the ten-gram peak SARs at both frequencies, specified in ICNIRP/Japan, do not depend on the head size. On the other hand, the peak temperature-rise was found to decrease with reducing the head size unexpectedly.
