Measurement of ESD Pulses by an Electric Field Sensor Using an Optical Modulator

Abstract(in English) Temporal probiles of impulsive electric fields caused by electrostatic discharge(ESD) were measured in the time domain with a LiNbO_3 optical electric field sensor. Measurements were achieved with the relatiue humidity of 50(±5). 70(±5),and 90(±5)%.Experimental results show that the peak lerel of ESD pulses decreases with the relatine humidity.The analytical results in the friquency domains from 10 MHz to 1 GHz indicated that the increase of 20% in the relatire hunidity reduces the electromognetic energy by 20-40%. As a result,it was found that hieghier humidity docreases EMI caused by ESD.
