Vector Modulation Error of Even Harmonic Quadrature Modulator

Abstract(in English) Recently, a direct converter for digital radio communication is proposed for small size and light weight transmitters. An even harmonic modulator with an anti parallel diode pair has high suppression of carrier leakage which is one of vector error components in quadrature modulators. This report indicates the maximam value of Vector Modulation Error (VME). This error is caused by unbalance of modulated wave level with two even harmonic mixers, an amplitude and a phase error at couplers, and an interferrence of a frequency 2fp through an inphase divider for a frequency fp. This result revealed that relationship between S-patrameters of each components and VME, and it becomes clear how to design modulators with required VME, Finaly, our experimental results in X-band indicates the same dependence with analysis.
