Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Microwave and millimeter wave up-converters require mixers with low out-band spurious emissions. An even harmonic mixer with anti-parallel diode pair (APDP) has an advantage that is an extremely low 2nd harmonic of LO(2fp). 2fp is a virtual LO that places nearby desired RF signal. In common cases, even harmonic mixers are used as receiver components. So output power and distortion that define transmitting characteristics don't have been analyzed in past works. In this report, we discuss output power, spurious components by 3rd order distortion, conversion loss and 2fp of the even harmonic mixer by analytical approaches. In the analysis, APDP's DC characteristics is expressed as linear. Analytical results indicate that higher LO level reduces distortions and increases output power of the mixer. Furthermore the result indicates that a conversion loss of 3.92dB is a theoretical limitation in a case of an even harmonic mixer with resistive terminations.
