Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the recent land mobile cellular radio systems, the distribution of channel traffic is not uniform among all cellular zones. To smooth out this traffic imbalance, an adaptive zone configuration with array antenna has been proposed as a candidate system. This system adaptively configures cellular zones for time-variant channel traffic distributions. This paper presents the results of field experiments on zone configuration using a circular 8-element array antenna and investigates the feasibility of an adaptive zone configuration system. To realize an intelligent adaptive zone configuration, it is essential to establish a method for estimating the phase and power parameters for each antenna element. In this regard, we also introduce a zone configuration method that makes use of geographical conditions and two kinds of phase and power parameter estimation algorithms.
