Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper briefly describes Metaphor Based Artificial Intelligence:MBAI. First, this paper studies the bounds of symbolic artificial intelligence, that is, the artificial intelligence which can be realized by computer software. The understanding of meanings can be divided into the understanding of meanings from the first person and the understanding of meanings from the third person. The bounds of symbolic aritifitial intelligence is the formal system of the understanding of meanings from the first person, which is the formal system of images. The forms of images are metaphors structurizing experiences. MBAI consists of basic domains, application domains and projections (inference) between the two domains. MBAI can basically deal with unexpected situations, which cannot be dealt with by the conventional AI.
