Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Technical compound nouns are often used as keywords for information retrieval. The mechanism how nominal compounds are generated can be clarified by analyzing internal structures of nominal compounds. The conventional approach has centered on the analysis of semantic relations among constituent elements of nominal compounds. We think structural and grammatical characteristics play the key role in nominal compounds. In our study, we propose original categories in terms of structural and grammatical characteristics, and examine modifications and connections among constituent elements of compound words, using the original categories.
