Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Since Kutas&Hillyard demostrated that semantically inappropriate words elicit the N400, a considerable number of papers have been made on ERP correlates for language processing. While P600 and LAN are good candidates for the ERP correlates for syntactic processes, much still remains to be done. In this study, we investigatedERP components elicited by semantic violation of selective restriction between verb & noun, syntactic violations of tense, negation and WH-question. N400 was elicited in temporo-occipital regions by semantic anomalous words, which is in line with the previous reports, whereas, an early negative component appeared in the lefttemporal region to tense and negation violations, and P600 was elicited by anomalous words in the WH question. SCD topographies suggested that the semantic process is mediated in the right temporal region, and the syntactic process in the left temporal region.
