Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | ERP (event-related potentials) allows for the real-time observation of brain activity during stimulus processing in a specific task. N400 is an ERP component elicuted by a semantically anomalous word, and is assumed to reflect the function of verbal semantic processing. Meanwhile, biological findings related to schizophrenic pathogenesis have been increasing considerably. Investigation of the relationship between N400 abnormalities and thought disorder in schizophrenics seems of underlying verbal processing. In this report, we presented the results suggesting a relationship between N400 abnormalities and thought disorder, that is, N400 abnormalities were more frequent in schizophrenic who showed a bizarre idiosyncratic verbalization in Harrow's Thought Disorder Scale. |
