Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Emotion plays an important role for successful communication, including exchanges taken place in e-mail exchanges. The goal of this research is to construct a system which automatically extracts the emotional state of the sender in an e-mail message. The author collected approximately 1000 sentences from e-mail messages exchanged by university students. Using these data, she extracted emotional expressions and classified them. She implimented the results of the above analyses in a Japanese dictionary and a concept dictionary for natural language processing. Using these dictionaries, she constructed a system which automatically analyzes and extracts information about emotion embedded in the text of e-mail messages.
