| 抄録(和) | そもそも「何のための言語研究」なのかを問うという、根本的な問題意識への回帰から本稿を始める。心理言語学においては、「ことば」を通して「こころ」を探り、最終的には人間とは何かという問題にひとつの答えを与えることを目標としている。心理言語学における言語理解の研究例として、ソーセージ・マシーンと最少付加(知覚の方略のひとつ)に関する提案を概観した。これらは、人間の文解析のシステムのハードウェアとソフトウェアとして提案されたものである。さらに、空主語(empty subject)を含む文の統語解析(parsing)に関する心理言語学的な実験結果を報告し、解析装置と言語知識とは透明な関係にあり、解析装置は言語知識からの情報を利用しながら文処理を行うということを主張した。 |
| 抄録(英) | First of all, the very fundamental question, "why are we concerned with questions of language?", is asked. One of the most important purposes in answering this question is to shed light on our understanding of human nature. Throughout the course of psycholinguistic investigation, researchers have been interested in the relationship between the mental grammar and the actual parsing mechanism. As a model of human information processing, Frazier and Fodor's model (1978) is introduced. Basically, they proposed the "Sausage Machine" for the hardware and the "Minimal Attachment" (which is one instance of "Perceptual Strategy") as a software. The experimental results on gap-filling constructions in Japanese presented here support the claim that the parser makes use of information specific to a linguistic module. That is, the relationship between the parser and the grammar is supposed to be "transparent" in the sense that they are able to "see" each other. Based on this transparency, it becomes possible to clarify our linguistic knowledge through the investigation of the human parsing mechanism. |
