Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Studies of natural language processing by machine have been going on since the birth of computers, and now result in some products such as machine translation systems and word processors. Previous natural language processing systems have, however,no ability to comprehend any new words(henceforth, unknown words). This paper presents a definition and classification of unknown words with basic ideas of how to process unknown words by machine, and also an implementation of a prototype system with an ability both to detect unknown words in not-segmented Japanese sentences based on grammatical rules, and to provide a system dictionary with them as new words automatically.
