Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The nature of language is investigated within the framework of generative grammar.Generative grammar assumes the functionalistic approach to cognitive faculties, the approach which studies the hypothesis of organization of language knowledge independently of the neural medium in which it is physically encoded.Generative theory postulates the presence of mental gramar in the brain, which interacts with other modules to fors inputs to the conceptual- intentional system of thought The interface of mental grammar to the conceptual-intentional system, logical form.is subject to- certain output conditions not specific to language.Mental gramar is a computational system, which is sensitive to a variety of locality conditions.Genetic evidence for the innateness of nental grammar is provided on the basis of a special type of language impairment called dysphasia.
