Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The existing active contour models (ACM) such as Snakes suffer from poor performances for complicated images containing nois, textures, and shadows. This is mainly because these methods are based on locally optimum energy minimization. We propose a region swelling-shrinking model called Medusa which is based on a new stochastic sampling method. We prove the global convergence property of Medusa by using the existing stochastic sampling theory. We demonstrate performances of Medusa by simulations.
