Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a pattern recognition method of Thai printed characters which are almost composed of many complicated and similar curves. Our scheme uses a structure analysis that is developed for Japanese or English character recognition. A character is classified from its position between lines, the number of loops, the starting point and position of each loop in the character. In the final process, any pending one is checked from matching of complicated pattern and structure of word or sentense based on the Thai grammer. A multi-step classification method is introduced to achieve good recognition rate. It may attain to over 90 percent for printed documents.
