| 抄録(和) | デザイン処理された新聞見出し画像中の文字を補完類似度に基づいて認識する方法を提案する。はじめに新聞見出し画像中を水平方向に走査して得られる白黒変化の数を用いて補完類似度に基づく射影分布を求め、文字列領域を抽出する。次に文字列領域内で補完類似度によるずらし照合を行い個別文字を認識する。各位置で補完類似度の最大値が入力画像のデザイン処理や雑音の程度によって決まるしきい値を越えた場合、その文字カテゴリを認識カテゴリと判定する。新聞見出し画像50枚に対して、文字高さが既知のデータに対して91.1%、未知のデータに対して85.1%の認識率を得、高精度に文字を認識できることを示す。 |
| 抄録(英) | This paper proposes a method for recognizing characters with graphical backgrounds in Japanese newspaper headlines using the complementary similarity measure. First, text line regions are extracted from input images using the projection profile based on the complementary similarity measure. Next, the window in the text-line is displaced continuously along the line with matching it against reference patterns of character categories. The specified category is determined as a recognition category when the maximum complementary similarity exceeds a threshold. Experiments show that this method achieves a high recognition rate of 91.1% for 50 Japanese headline images. |
