Abstract(in English) In this report, we describe a method of interactive generation of a route and its application to generating a sketch map drawing in a map image information system. The aim of our method is to generate the most suitable route for a user by means of interaction between the system and a user. Our method generates a route by means of extracting a sequence of roads and crossings that fit the user's requirements from the road-network. The road-network is represented by a graph with some kinds of attributes of roads and crossings. In generating a sketch map drawing, based on the result of route generation, we not only deform pictorial information but also simplify semantic information. That is, the number of landmarks along a route can be changeable. We experimentally clarify the effectiveness of our method and verify that the generated drawings are visually suitable for the route understanding.
