Generation of Facial Contour Line Drawing Based on Extraction of Facial Parts

Abstract(in English) We propose a robust system that first, extracts facial parts, and then constructs the facial contour line drawing from facial images. In the process of facial parts extraction, We propose the global facial model that represent facial configuration. This model selects the best sets of facial parts based on facial configuration from several points extracted by low level image processing. This process have a merit of possibility to become a robust facial extraction method. As for the process of contour line generation, we use active contour model (ACM) that use global feature and knowledge of object. Although it is difficult for ACM to be applied to small objects, it is possible to be applied to facial parts by the process of sub-pixel and the way of "line ACM". In the present paper, to show the effectiveness of the system, many facial images are used as inputs. The experimental results show that the system is robust and effective.
