Abstract(in English) This paper describes an automated fingerprint classification which is necessary for searching fingerprints effectively among a large-size database. By analyzing dual structure in fingerprint line image, singular points such as a core and a delta are detected, and feature lines related to the singular points are verified. In addition, neural network using fingerprint ridge direction classifies the same pattern. output of the two methods are integrated using posterior probability. In experiments, it was revealed that the classification accuracy was 95.5% without rejection and 99.8% at rejection and 26.0% secondary candidate addition.
