Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Many kinds of CALL systems have been developed recently. However, there are still only a few systems for speaking practice. Our study aims to develop a pronunciation evaluation system for English words spoken by Japanese learners. The system uses both Japanese and English phonemic models to evaluate the pronunciation of learners' utterance. We propose two methods, a discriminative method and a rating method for pronunciation evaluation. This paper describes a pronunciation evaluation system based on these methods and the effectiveness of the methods.
