Performance Analysis of a Fourier Coefficient Estimation Method Using IIR-BPFs and an LMS Algorithm and Improvement of its Performance

Abstract(in English) There are many applications where it is necessary to estimate accurately the amplitude and phase of signals when the information regarding the frequencies are obtained in advance. We have proposed the new algorithm(the BPLMS method)for estimating accurately Fourier coefficients of a signal contaminated by the additive noise and interfering sinusoids where sinusoidal frequencies of interest are not distributed uniformly. In the BPLMS, bandpass filters using second order IIR notch filters(2-IIRNFs)and an LMS algorithm are combined. In this paper, performance analysis of the BPLMS is presented and its validity is confirmed under various conditions by computer simulations. Performance analysis shows that down sampling makes larger the normalized frequency difference among objective components and interfering ones, and leads to better perfomance. Finally, comparison of the proposed method and the BPLMS, and an application to a musical transcription are shown.
