Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper focuses on an automatic pitch-marking method using a wavelet transform for the speech synthesis technique known as pitch-synchronous overlap-and-add. The glottal closure instant (GCI)is appropriate as a pitch mark for manipulating the pitch waveform since it corresponds to the beginning of a pitch period. A wavelet transform with the first derivative of a smoothing function shows local maxima around the points of discontinuity of a signal. This property is suitable for detecting GCIs at which abrupt changes occur in a speech waveform. We applied a dynamic programming algorithm to obtain an optimal GCI sequence from the local peaks of the wavelet transform of a speech signal. We have evaluated the performance of our pitch-marking method by using our internal speech databases with an electroglottograph (EGG)signal
