Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper aims to find the acoustic cues expressing improvement in speech quality of skeletal class III patients by orthognantic surgery. According to the preceding research on this problem, the high frequency component increases in fricatives after the surgery because the articulation of unvoiced fricatives becomes easy by the surgical cure. But there should be significant change in the shape and the controllability of vocal tract. And the formant frequencies of vowels in spoken words are compared to those of normal speakers. The improvement of speech by some patients is assured by the psychometric method. It is found that there is significant difference between the speeches by improved patients and unimproved patients.
