Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Many of previous methods for Chinese tone recognition were mainly based on approximating the fundamental frequency contours with one or two straight lines.Since there exist various thresholds to be set up heurisitically for each speaker,it is rather difficult to increase the speaker adaptability. To cope with this problem,we introduced HMM method to tone recognition, with which speaker variation may be incorporated in the model during the learning process. To take hold of the features of each tone well,we prosposed a combination of so called macroscopic feature and microscopic one.For speaker adaptation, espcially for the difference between male and female speakers, the method of how to select an appropriate offset value to fundamental frequency was also discussed. As the result with these methods,as high as 98.5% of recognition rate has been achieved.
